After lots of hard work and determination, the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum has earned a 30-year lease from the city of Muskegon on the land where SILVERSIDES and McLANE are currently located. With this lease, the Board of Directors has decided to build a more permanent location for the museum, gift shop, and ticket office.

This new building is a $2.3 million dollar project. It will make room for a larger gift shop, indoor and outdoor restrooms, library, theatre, community room for conventions, receptions, and banquets, and a classroom for our growing educational program. It will also provide a larger display area for museum artifacts that are on exhibit, and more space for artifacts currently in storage. The new storage facilities will be climate controlled to better preserve valuable pieces of our naval and wartime history.
